Run From What Hurts You

Run from what hurts you.

It took me a long time to learn this.

Sometimes, we insist. We insist on people. We insist on places. We insist on situations. We insist, specifically, on what is already hurting us.

And we do it because hope still exists. Hope that the person will change. Hope that the place will get better. Hope that the situation will finally improve.

But there comes a moment when we face a hard truth:

Not everything we love is good for us.

Staying where you lose your peace costs too much. Slowly, you start disappearing. You stop being who you are. You start living for that person, that place, that situation… until your own soul gets sick.

So hold on to this:

Not every escape is cowardice.

Sometimes, walking away from what hurts you is the greatest act of self-love there is.

Because not everything needs to be fixed. Some things just need to be left behind.

And when you find the courage to leave, you are not giving up on life.

You are choosing to come back to yourself.
